Customer story
Microsoft Connected Vehicle Platform (MCVP) provides automakers with the infrastructure to revolutionize mobility services, meet changing customer expectations and accelerate the deployment of safe autonomous driving solutions.
But to create a fully connected vehicle experience as the driver moves from point A to point B, Microsoft needed a partner that offers advanced location data.
TomTom and Microsoft started a successful partnership in December 2016, offering TomTom’s location-based services on the Azure cloud network.
When Microsoft needed intelligent mapping and navigation services in its connected vehicle platform, it was a natural next step in the partnership to integrate TomTom’s market-leading geolocation technology, including the TomTom HD Map and Real-Time Traffic services.
Powered by Microsoft Azure’s reliable, scalable and secure cloud network, automakers can deliver personalized navigation packages straight to a driver’s vehicle. With fresh map and traffic services delivered through over-the-air updates, vehicles connected to the MCVP platform save drivers stress, time and fuel while creating a better overall driving experience.
TomTom’s geolocation technology also enables the creation of smart mobility solutions such as automated driving, which requires an always up-to-date HD map for perception, precise localization and path planning. As the automotive industry continues to evolve rapidly, TomTom is proud to be part of MCVP, a top provider of connected in-vehicle services.
