Bigger, better app navigation has arrived: Announcing TomTom AmiGO for Android Auto

Calling all Android Auto drivers! You can now enjoy ad-free TomTom AmiGO navigation on your car’s big screen.

Got a car with Android Auto? Starting now, you can use TomTom AmiGO with your vehicle’s in-dash navigation. That means you’ll see a mirror image of your AmiGO app on your car’s screen and hear voice guidance through the car sound system – plus you’ll be able to navigate using steering wheel buttons and other dashboard controls.

Straightforward guidance and alerts, on your car’s big screen

You get the same great TomTom navigation experience – fresh maps, accurate ETAs, real-time traffic and speed camera warnings – now with added features that make the drive even better, including:

• Your favorite AmiGO features right on your car’s big screen – no need to reach for your phone.

• Voice commands that let you keep your hands on the wheel and your eyes on the road. Just say “OK Google” to tell AmiGO where you want to go.

• Visual and audio alerts delivered directly from your vehicle display and sound system to give you a heads-up about what’s ahead.

Sounds convenient, right? Here’s how to get it set up:

1. Make sure you have the latest versions of both Android Auto and AmiGO installed on your Android phone.

2. Connect your phone to your car with a USB cable or Bluetooth.

3. Select “Navigation App” at the bottom of your car’s display screen. AmiGO will start automatically if it’s your last used navigation app. (If AmiGO was not the most recently used navigation app, tap the navigation menu at the bottom left and select “AmiGO”).

4. Enter a location and enjoy the drive!

Voice commands for safer travels

Want to use voice commands for a hands-free navigation experience? All you need to do is:

• Say “OK Google, drive to [address],” (or “Home” or “Work” if you already have these locations set up in your app). AmiGO will open and start navigation.

• On your steering wheel, press and hold the microphone button for a few seconds to activate the Android Auto mic, and say your destination out loud.

• On your screen display, select the microphone icon and, when the mic is open, use your voice to name your destination or search for a place.
