    What you’ll doYou will be responsible for managing a team of 5 UX Researchers and, together with them establishing the vision of how UX Research can have most impact on TomTom products and strategy. This role combines leadership on various aspects: a people leadership part, leading individuals and the team, and a product leadership part, overseeing all main TomTom products.

    You naturally put user needs first, while taking business and technical requirements into account. You can present and share your work in a compelling and convincing way in front of key stakeholders that often involve individuals from different business and product units. You have a strong will to create easy to use, delightful products. You love iterating on UX to find the best possible user experience. You’re proactive, and a great team player.

    Some core activities include:

    In this role you will be expected to lead UX Research on various level:

    Lead individuals:

    • Manage a team of 5 UX researchers
    • Provide direction and feedback
    • Support with their development and career paths, be a coach.
    • Support with their their day to day work (priorities, research approach)

    Lead the team:

    • Accountable for the performance and end results of the UX research team.
    • Establish connections with key stakeholder across business units in order to identify strategic topics where UXR can make most impact
    • Organize people and resources to make the envisioned impact, in line with department strategy.
    • Ensure visibility of the UXR team and its insights both internally as externally.
    • Find and attract new research talents.
    • Establish a positive team culture, motivates, and empowers the team.
    • Together with the team improve our Research Ops
    • Manage the UXR yearly budget, negotiate contracts and manage vendor database.

    Lead our products & domains:

    • Strategize with PMs and higher management to support the creation of product vision/ strategy
    • Establish a continuous alignment with higher management, key stakeholders and external partners to proactively identify areas that need to be explored.
    • Be the user insights representative in meetings, pointing to existing studies and identifying knowledge gaps.
    • Take responsibility for the consistent application of research findings cross products.
    • Initiate research studies, and at times performing the actual research
    • Evangelize UserCentered way of working across TomTom.
    • Think holistically about the end-to-end TomTom experience and inspire others to do so.
    What you’ll need:

    To be successful, this is the kind of profile we have in mind:

    • 7+ years of industry experience, of which some in a leadership position.
    • Strong communication skills: easy to connect with and comfortable sharing your perspective.
    • Strong interpersonal skills: align, collaborate, engage, convince…
    • Solid time-management and prioritization skills.
    • Pragmatism: balance research investment depending on user and/or business impact.
    • In-depth experience with the whole package of qualitative and quantitative user research methods such as usability testing, contextual interviewing, observational studiess, surveys, analysis of usage analytics…etc.
    • An advanced degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Industrial Design, Interaction Design or related discipline.
