    Director, Cloud & Core Infrastructure

As the Director of Cloud & Core Infrastructure, you are responsible for TomTom’s global IT infrastructure including cloud infrastructure, Data Centers, on-prem compute and storage infrastructure, the global network, connectivity to the cloud, and infrastructure security. At the same time, you get energized by technology transformation, enabling a software-defined frictionless self-service infrastructure experience for the internal clients.     Key responsibilities:
    • Sets and maintains the strategic direction and delivers on the cloud and core infrastructure foundation for all of TomTom
    • Responsible for transformation, operations, uptime, cost and security of all infrastructure
    • Infrastructure domains: cloud infrastructure, data center, compute (baremetal, multiple hypervisor solutions, container technologies), storage, global network (wireless, SD-WAN, remote access, Internet connectivity, cloud connectivity), infrastructure security
    • Infrastructure automation and operations: infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, automation, monitoring, observability, asset management, lifecycle management
    • Lead and manage multiple infrastructure-centric teams including managers, architects and engineers
    • Collaborate with product unit (line-of-business) engineering teams and peer teams in the Service Platform organization to align on capabilities
    • Work with technology and solution providers to select technologies, suppliers and negotiate contractual and financial terms
    • Manage strategic relationships with infrastructure and public cloud provider(s)
    • Creates and sustains an environment of ingenuity and creativity and challenges the status quo to encourage innovation
    • Manage and optimize the total cost of infrastructure
    • Demonstrates operational excellence in every move we make
    Technical and functional skills:
    • Public cloud infrastructure: Azure, AWS
    • Software-defined core infrastructure management and operations
    • Data center technologies
    • Network technologies: wireless, office, remote access, WAN, SD-WAN, Internet connectivity, cloud connectivity, data center networking, firewall, load balancers, network management
    • Compute technologies: baremetal, GPU, VMWare, OpenStack, kubernetes, automated provisioning, configuration management, asset management
    • Storage technologies: file, block, object, cloud storage
    • Security technologies: identity, firewalls, compute security
    • Infrastructure automation: infrastructure-as-code, scripting
    • Vendor management – including product selection, contract negotiations
    • Stakeholder management – be the best possible provider to the internal clients
    • Financial management – manage a significant infrastructure budget
    • Operational practices for the cloud era, including incident, problem, release and change management
    General skills and experience:
    • Minimum 10 years of experience in enterprise-grade or cloud-grade infrastructure management, including mission-critical operational responsibilities
    • Minimum 5 years of experience in managing teams (local and remote) and a proven track record of hiring and growing talent
    • Operational track-record of delivering mission-critical services in a cloud-based online/digital context of enterprise, cloud or SP scale
    • Experience with managing external partners and suppliers
    • Experience with managing budgets including planning
    • Proven track record of thought leadership, influence and partnership
    • Delivery track record of large-scale infrastructure engineering and/or multi-year cross-functional transformational projects
    • Best-in-class technical leadership, following a structured approach to drive align and seek consensus
    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
    • MSc in computer engineering or better highly desirable
    • The role is based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands – remote working will be considered
