What you’ll do
  • Create and maintain Ubuntu based client solutions such as images, scripts and documentation to enable our engineering & development community.
  • Manage and maintain our Ubuntu LTS client environment and troubleshoot Ubuntu related incidents as a 3rd level engineer.
  • Administrate our Landscape environment for clients and sustain (custom) reporting, monitoring, dashboards & a software-based encryption solution.
  • Interact directly with the business owners and innovate the Ubuntu deployments and life cycle management in the most secure way.
  • Reduce local processing needs by implementing and supporting cloud-based virtualization.
  • Develop automated and self-service deployment solutions over the internet.
What you’ll need
  • At least 5 years of professional experience as a Linux Engineer supporting Linux based client environments.
  • Great Bash, Python and JSON skills.
  • Experience with client hardware and advanced knowledge of Ubuntu Linux (LTS versions).
  • Knowledge of and relevant work experience with Canonical products Landscape & MAAS.
  • Passion for automation and self-service solutions.
  • Excellent (English) communication skills and cross-cultural adaptability.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving skills and ability to manage complex or escalated support issues.
  • Knowledge/understanding of basic networking environment.
  • Creative ideas, suggestions and a new way of doing something.

Focus for this position is on Ubuntu, quite specifically we like to address candidates in 1 of the countries where we have large(r) sites (the Netherlands, Poland and Belgium).

This role is quite specific, so we are not looking for system engineers who think this is an infrastructure role for Linux servers, it is not!

You will be a member of the Employee IT team in TomTom. The Employee IT Team forms the bridge between all our TomTom employees and the Digital Workplace offering. The Digital Workplace covers a variety of best in class technical solutions including a fully deployed Microsoft Office 365 environment where Sharepoint and Teams, amongst others are key collaboration solutions from the Microsoft toolset. Additionally, collaboration solutions from other vendors play an important role in our environment with platforms like Confluence and Slack.
