Within the search department we’re developing web services for geocoding, reverse geocoding and searching addresses and points of interests. We have vacancies in two teams. One team owns the extended Search API, a collection of web services. The other team is responsible for the data transformation process, which transforms TomTom map data into a dataset suitable for the search web services using a cloud based parallel data pipeline, optimized for cost and lead time. Given the broadness of the free text search domain, you will be encouraged to investigate and implement algorithms improving performance and results accuracy. As every member of our development team, you will influence design decisions, architecture and choice of tooling used by the team.
In the Extended Search API team:
You will join search engine experts working on Search API
Investigate and implement algorithms improving performance and results accuracy
Provide API for external customers including well-established companies like Microsoft, Verizon or Uber
In the data transformation team:
Improve the (quality) of the search web services by extending and improving the data transformation software
Finetune cost & lead time of the cloud-based data pipeline
Continuously improve the team’s extensive set of visual web application tools used to inspect data and diagnose issues
7+ years of experience with Java 8
Good knowledge of design patterns and clean code principles
Solid understanding of software engineering principles to deliver high quality software
Apache Lucene (or any search engines) is much appreciated
Cloud experience (Azure or AWS)
Continuous integration, Jenkins, Maven knowledge
Git, Linux, scripting experience
Online APIs and micro service architectures
The Search department is part of LT Products (Location Technology Products), TomTom’s central technical unit. We’re comprised of product units that develop a range of innovative, customized navigation technologies for customers to integrate into their location-based applications.
