The Expert System Engineer will be accountable for administration, management, and proper monitoring of the network services infrastructure which includes on-premise, off-premise, and office network service components.
Support multiple platform engineers across different PU’s with effective network services best practices across different domains.
Solve blocker incidents and problem resolutions in a 24x7 capacity and participate in oncall rotations.
Purpose of this role is to lead Network service engineering best practices in Commercial IT with the goal to effectively protect the stability, security, and feature enhancements of network services across TomTom’s global network.
What you’ll do
Implement and recommend best practices and process efficiencies and continually update documentation
Evaluate roadmaps and future network solutions to ensure best practices and solutions
Introduce automation techniques and failover methodologies to reduce risk
Test network services using industry standard analysis criteria
Perform daily operational responsibilities to include incidents, problems, and customer requests in a timely manner.
Participate in proper capacity planning and availability management of services and infrastructure.
Alert and resolve any network service issues and communicate them accordingly
Capacity planning and availability management of services and infrastructure
Work closely with peer infrastructure and application engineers.
Participate in an on-call rotation as a global team for after-hours support
Reduce the complexity in design of network services to include consolidation of multiple technologies and services.
Increase more advanced monitoring techniques of these services to increase stability.
Automation of network service consumption for the delivery stream process in public and private cloud.
Experience with complex heterogeneous DNS environments
Experience with Infoblox, BIND, and Microsoft DNS
Experience in private and public clouds to include Azure, AWS, Openstack, and VMware
Experience in scripting to include Python, UNIX shell, Powershell, Rest APIs, and Network Automation
Experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Puppet, and Terraform
Experience with Linux (Ubuntu, CentOS) and Microsoft operating systems
Experience in network operations including routing, switching, and network security
Experience in working in collaboration with different engineering teams
Experience with IPAM and DHCP
Experience with Active Directory
Able to work under pressure
Strong written and verbal communication skills
On-call support required
Some travel required
Experience with Anycast is preferred
Experience with DNS security is preferred
