What you’ll do
  • Contribute to an agile team, architecting, realizing, and supporting state-of-the-art data transformation algorithms in Java to enable TomTom’s best-in-class navigation functionalities like route calculation or map visualization.

  • Deliver business-driven solutions for new features map creation and production process automation of map product for embedded and mobile devices as well as for server-based navigation solutions.

  • Work together with your team and people from different locations around the whole world in a clean code environment;

  • Maintain our map compilation software stack and contribute to its software and design quality;

  • Extend, Modify and Upkeep:

    • Batch data transformation application based on the following technologies: Python 3.8, Java 1.8, Sqlite and Bash;

    • Jenkins based run environment;

    • Map validation toolkit (JavaScript, Cucumber, Java 1.8).

What you’ll need
  • 3+ years of experience in software development;

  • Willingness and ability to work in JVM languages, along with Docker, Maven, and Git, as product unit works mainly with these technologies;

  • Great knowledge of Java 8 (or higher) or other object-oriented programming languages;

  • Proper Attitude – both: thinker and executor – can come up with ideas and has the courage and perseverance to bring them to reality;

  • Experience working in an Agile;

  • Eagerness to learn a lot of new things and continuously improve your skills, open mind for discussions;

  • Pro-active, pragmatic attitude: building solutions over writing papers.

  • Good command of English both spoken and written.

What’s nice to have
  • Experience to work with legacy projects, Grid Engine and Singularity;

  • Experience with Python;

  • Experience in cloud technologies like Docker, Kubernetes, Microsoft Azure, or AWS;

  • Being familiar with SAFe framework;

  • University degree in informatics, Geo-informatics or related fields;

  • Experience with DevOps practices and tooling.

Meet your team
We’re NDS (Navigation Data Standard), a product unit within TomTom’s Location Technology Products technical unit. We compile TomTom Maps’ source data into an application-friendly run-time format for use in TomTom’s navigation applications and services, as well as third-party partners and customers. Map management and full scope updates are central. On this team, you will create the most innovative technologies to transform online and embedded navigation around the world, ultimately shaping tomorrow’s mobility.
