What you’ll do

As a UX Researcher, you will be responsible for driving the UX research for online and mobile consumer products. You are passionate about designing and executing user research and usability testing, sharing findings and recommendations and contributing to a desirable online and mobile experience.

As part of the Amsterdam-based UX Research team, you will work closely together with an in-house product team of UX Designers, Engineers, Information Architects and Product Management to invent, improve and implement Interaction Models, Information Architectures, and User Interfaces of online and mobile products.

  • Think holistically about the end-to-end user experience.

  • Design, plan and execute research and usability testing for existing and new online and mobile products and prototypes.

  • Collect analytics, perform statistics, interpret and categorize user data and summarize the results.

  • Initiate and execute A/B testing, card sorting studies and tree jacks.

  • Guide the preparation of user test materials, such as prototypes.

  • Setup service design tracks to proactively identify areas that need to be explored and drive the agenda.

  • Promote the use of personas and user journeys throughout the product development process.

  • Distill new insights from the user research and come up with practical improvements.

  • Connect quantitative and qualitative user insights.

  • Perform (usability) reviews of product concepts and do literature research.

  • Assist in developing designs from concept to final release.

  • Organize and participate in concept development and design ideation.

What you’ll need

  • 3+ years of industry experience in UX research with online and mobile products, of which at least 1 year as an in-house UX researcher.

  • An advanced degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors, Cognitive Psychology, Ethnography, Industrial Design or related discipline.

  • A deep understanding of user experience challenges of web and mobile products and services.

  • In-depth experience with the whole package of qualitative and quantitative user research methods and tools (such as in-depth interviews, card sorting, tree jack, usability testing A/B testing and questionnaires.

  • A good understanding of statistics and research design.

  • An interest in understanding and applying behavior design tactics.

  • An understanding of Information Architecture and User-Centered Design Methodology.

  • Strong conceptual skills.

  • Relentless attention to consistency and detail.

  • Persuasive communication skills.

  • Creative problem solver, team player, self-motivated and dedicated to excellence.

  • Enthusiasm and positive energy.

  • A passion for technology and gadgets in general.

  • Experience with standard graphic design applications such as Adobe Creative Suite or similar tools.

  • Experience in exploring the possibilities of big data is a plus.

  • Experience with After Effects, Principle and Figma is a plus.

  • Visible as a User Experience advocate, both inside and outside TomTom (e.g. in UX community).

  • Solid time-management and prioritization skills with the ability to run simultaneous projects.

  • Fluency in English.
