In the Traffic and Travel Service department, we develop award-winning services which get everyone where they need to be faster, more reliably, on time and safely.

At TomTom you can develop your skills in all fields of software engineering, from the UI down to the data layer. In our team, you will focus primarily on web-based applications written in JavaScript, but in the backends other programming languages can be found as well. We develop products used by internal and external stakeholders. We take responsibility for the full software life cycle, including design, building, deploying and maintenance. Some of the applications deal with large amounts of data, while others focus on fast processing. Good user experience and short feedback cycles are always key.

We are looking for the best and brightest minds in a complex live-environment to join our team as a full stack software engineer.

Here is a little taste of your challenge:
  • Work on content visualization and moderation tools for traffic and travel information that are used to prepare our services for the customers.

  • Build and improve frontend and backend components to make it all work together well.

  • Apply user interfaces designed by our team’s UX designer.

  • Working with production infrastructure in the cloud.

  • Training more junior colleagues.

  • Creating and sharing documentation and demonstrations of your work.

  • As a member of an autonomous team, translate high level requirements into plans and implementation.

Your Profile
What do we expect from you?
  • Proficiency in JavaScript, CSS and HTML5 development, including modern concepts such as modules, async, generators.

  • Experience with TypeScript, ES6, React, webpack is a big plus.

  • Experience within the Geographic Information System (GIS) domain is a big plus.

  • Experience with cloud functionality and deployments, especially AWS and Azure, is a big plus.

  • Experience in building systems end-to end, including continuous integration and delivery.

  • Being comfortable working with the command line.

  • Experience in Agile development practices.

  • Good level of English.

  • Consulting effectively with geographically dispersed teams.

  • A pragmatic and resourceful mindset with the ability to plan accurately and get things done.

  • Understanding for the commercial impact of engineering decisions.
