The graduate program in a nutshell

Our graduate program is designed for eager professionals looking to kick-start their careers in Finance or Accounting.

In our two-year program, you will gain experience through our financial landscape and processes, as well as business operations, in a dynamic work environment with a unique culture.

We are flexible and will support you to design a tailor-made rotation plan within our finance organization to help you realize your potential to the fullest. At the same time, you'll be able to develop yourself via various training platforms and learn on the job next to knowledgeable and fun colleagues.

Following the completion of the program, you will continue your TomTom journey from a permanent role which suits your talent and interests.

My favorite part about the graduate program is having the liberty to tailor my own career path by choosing my next rotation based on my interests and type of experience I want to acquire. My current role, in internal audit, allows me to collaborate with teams from across the whole organization and expand my knowledge on topics even outside finance.

TomTom finance structure

Financial Shared Services

Consists of a large number of different teams such as Business Accounting, GL Accounting, Procurement, Cash Management, Payroll and many others which manage four key financial processes: Order to Cash, Record to Report, Procure to Pay and Payroll. The teams are working closely together to maximize efficiency and have one mission: Reduce complexity in processes and systems, whilst increasing customer satisfaction.

Business Unit Finance

Works closely with many functions in the business as a Finance Business Partner. Controls costs and safeguards margin, while constructing forecasts and budgets. Moreover, it provides analysis and insight to the business to guide and support decision-making. TomTom Business finance is spread across five units:

  • Automotive: licenses maps, navigation software and services to automotive customers

  • Enterprise: licenses maps, navigation software and services to other innovative companies and application developers

  • Consumer: offers drivers directions, guidance and inspiration for their journeys on the road

  • Maps: shaping the future of mobility by creating highly accurate, real-time maps to the world's largest technology companies, car manufacturers, fleet management organizations, cities, and everyday drivers

  • Platform products: provide software and online services that are used by customers, both internal and external, as components of their location-based and navigation applications

Corporate Finance

Consists of various Finance specialist teams. Group Control manages the annual budget and long-term financial model processes and is responsible for the monthly financial management reporting. Investor Relations communicates with the financial markets, ensuring investors and analysts understand our company, strategy and financial results. Tax and Treasury manages the company’s tax position, aims at maximizing cash efficiency and manages financial risks. Corporate Accounting ensures compliance with the IFRS accounting standards and manages group consolidation, external reporting, and TomTom’s internal control framework.

Rotation within the finance organization

Our Graduates are located in Amsterdam and Pune and get to interact with hundreds of TomTom’ers around the world. For the Graduates located at TomTom’s headquarters in the heart of Amsterdam we offer a Finance and an Accounting track with opportunities to join a wide variety of teams. Below is an example of what your program could look like, but you are free to shape your journey according to your interests, preferences, and background:

Financial Shared Services (8 months)

During this rotation, you will get acquainted with the financial reporting tools we use and familiarize yourself with the accounting rules and treatments we follow. This will give you a solid understanding of the TomTom business, product portfolio, and transactional processes.

Business Unit Finance (8 months)

During this rotation, you will be given the opportunity to collaborate with many functions in the business such as product management, software engineering, sales, and marketing and provide financial analysis to support decision-making.

Corporate Finance (8 months)

During this rotation, you will work closely with senior management and will experience TomTom from a group finance perspective, by joining one of our Corporate Finance specialist teams, e.g., Group Control, Investor relations, Corporate Accounting or Tax & Treasury.

At the end of each rotation, we celebrate your success with a team outing and an increase to your base salary to thank you for your great effort.

What will you need?

  • MSc in Finance, Accounting, (Business) Economics, or equivalent is preferred. Other profiles can also be considered

  • Maximum of 2 years of working experience

  • Problem-solving and action-oriented mindset

  • Strong analytical skills and a keen eye for detail

  • Fluent in English (spoken and written)

  • Eligible to work in the EU – applicable only to the Amsterdam position

Once you have accepted our offer, you will be given the opportunity to meet with the CFO and key stakeholders, during a world-class onboarding program, which will be initiated for you prior to your first working day at TomTom.
