Lapland is a vast subarctic landscape crossing Sweden and Finland, above the polar circle. It is famous for its gorgeous mountains and rivers, and thousands visitors enjoy hiking in the summer and skiing in the winter. Most hikers follow the Kungsleden, a 440-kilometer trail that has huts for hikers needing accommodation, but beyond this tourist route there is a huge area of untouched nature waiting to be discovered.
With its 72 thundering waterfalls, secluded valleys, colorful alpine meadows and lonely mountain inns, the Lauterbrunnen Valley is one of the biggest nature conservation areas in Switzerland.
