From the trailhead, proceed south on Wildhorse Trail. After crossing Bajada Wash enjoy the views of upland saguaro forest. Horse riding has been traditional here since the early 1900’s among residents & visitors. Unusual saguaros seen in this area have included a 4-trunker, a cluster of 13 (at first hilltop) and a cristate at the wash crossing.
Wander through a blend of forest and canyon scenery on this North Rim trail. To locate the trailhead, take the dirt road south of Cape Royal Road for one mile to the Widforss Trail parking area. Self-guiding trail brochure available at trailhead.
The Brokeoff Trail offers sheer beauty and rugged mountain scenery including views of Mount Shasta, open meadows and the old Brokeoff Volcano. It is considered one of the toughest trails in the park, but one of the most rewarding.
Hawk Hill is popular among restoration ecologists for spotting mission blue butterflies. They populate the area year round, but are noticeable for only 6-8 weeks of the year.
Located in the northwestern corner of San Francisco, this trail offers hillsides of cypress and wildflowers with views of shipwrecks and access to the ruins of Sutro Baths, a former public saltwater swimming pool complex.

Iconic summer thunderstorms and persistent winter winds continue to shape the majestic landscape of Rocky Mountain National Park. This trail offers pristine alpine lake views, waterfalls and photo-worthy scenery.
This trail passes through sage and oak brush and then a pinyon/juniper forest along the canyon's rim. At Exclamation Point, see some of the best inner-canyon views. Continue to Green Mountain for panoramic vistas and an aerial perspective of the Black Canyon.
Near Bar Harbor, Maine, this lightly trafficked trail features beautiful wild flowers and a number of activity options. It is accessible year-round and dog-friendly (on leash only).
Also known as the Pemetic West Cliff Trail, it is an important link to the ridge of Pemetic Mountain from the southwest. The cliffs and rock faces of Pemetic can be slippery when wet.
Explore the Battle Road Trail. This five mile trail connects historic sites from Meriam’s Corner in Concord to the eastern boundary of the park in Lexington. The main theme of the trail is the Battle of April 19, 1775, that launched the American Revolution. Much of the trail follows original remnants of the Battle Road; other sections leave the historic road to follow the route of the Minute Men, traversing farming fields, wetlands, and forests.
Chapel Rock is a remnant of Cambrian age sandstone. The archway between the rock and the mainland collapsed in the 1940s. The remaining arch was carved by Lake Nipissing high waters some 3800 years ago.
The Piegan Pass Trail is a more advanced hike that begins on the east bank of Siyeh Creek. Expect spectacular mountain and glacier views and wildlife.
This trail offers a gradual ascent of the park’s highest peak, Mount Scott. Hike in the morning when the light is ideal for lake viewing.
The trail begins from the Clingmans Dome parking lot and drops elevation to grassy Andrews Bald. Depending on the time of year, hikers can find patches of blackberries and raspberries, Fraser firs, and bluets, a small, blue wildflower sometimes called innocence or Quaker ladies.

This short trail winds through the hot desert, so it is best to travel early in the morning. Experience moderate drop-offs before ending with views of the Towers of Virgin, lower Zion Canyon, and Springdale.
