Explore the rugged nature of southern AlaskaDiscover this route
This scenic road trip runs from Anchorage to the southern Alaskan town of Seward. Along the way you will be delighted with the most beautiful lakes, waterfalls, snowcapped mountains, and if you are lucky enough you might spot a whale.
Depart south from Anchorage and you will find yourself in unspoilt wilderness with hardly any sign from civilization, instantly. Birders and other wildlife viewers can spot migrating birds from the numerous observation decks in the Marsh landscape. At Chugach State Park awe-inspiring panoramas of the glorious mountains open up to you. Descending further down the surroundings change back to marsh landscapes before majestic mountains and numerous mountain lakes unfold in front of your eyes. At the harbor village of Seward on the Kenai Peninsula this scenic road trip will treat you with some spectacular sights of the Kenai fjords rising majestically out of the North Pacific Ocean.
Please note: Although the trip can be taken in less than three hours we advise to take a few days to fully explore the area. We advise to take this road trip in summer, when road blocks are less frequent.
