Situated in the Ångermanland province of north eastern Sweden, the High Coast marks a unique UNESCO World Heritage site. Some 10.000 years ago, the retraction of the last continental ice sheet created distinctly red granite cliffs and rocks formations to rise spectacularly high above the Gulf of Bothnia. Interestingly this natural phenomenon still rises 8 centimeters every century!

The scenic road stretches between the cities Härnösand and Örnsköldsvik taking in bedazzling panoramas of mystical pine forests and the impressive high coastline that dominate the scenery. Crossing the immense suspension bridge Högakustenbron over the Ångerman River is an experience on its own, but the route also offers plenty of outdoor activities. Stretch your legs and enjoy this beautiful Swedish landscape to the fullest by going on a little fishing, kayaking or hiking trip in Skuleskogen National Park.
