It is believed that this dazzling mountain pass connecting German-speaking Splügen and Italian-speaking Mesocco has been in use since prehistoric times. On top of that, it is believed that this scenic drive encompasses one of Switzerland’s most beautiful natural surroundings: reason enough to go on an adventure and explore this part of Graubünden on a road trip!

The scenic route includes majestic views of Switzerland at its best: little mountain lakes, cascading waterfalls and vast spruce forests prevail. The road winds through several Alpine villages, of which San Bernardino is really worth a cup of coffee. The final destination of this little road trip is the castle ruin of Castello Mesocco, which reminds of the historic background of this old trading route.

Please note: This road is generally open between May and October.
