This exciting mountain road zigzags from Meiringen to Gletsch taking in spectacular views of smooth granite rock formations, glaciers and blue reservoir lakes.

In contrast to other mountain passes the Grimselpass is a convenient road, not too difficult to drive. The scenery however, is at least as incredible as other mountain passes. The pass runs through a sparsely grown mountainous region marked by high peaks and glacier lakes, offering new jaw-dropping panoramas every corner.

The scenic route includes a little detour to the spectacular Oberaarsee, an artificial dammed lake filled with glacial melt water from the impressive Oberaar glacier. Take note that this little detour does include steep drops, narrow roads and numerous hairpin bends, so if you are not an experienced driver we advise to skip this stop and continue to Gletsch.

Please note: This road is generally open between May and October.
