With its rugged coastline, traditional white villages and calm pace, Puglia is certainly one of Italy’s best kept secrets. Explore the ‘heel’ of the Italy and let the Adriatic coast, olive trees, vineyards and endless cliffs delight you from the seat of your car. This scenic road trip takes you to the highlights of Italy’s easternmost province.

The wonderful village of Polignano a Mare dramatically set atop of a steep cliff. Especially the white sand beach that is squeezed between two massif cliffs is an attractive feature of this village by the sea. The caves of Castellana is the most famous natural wonder of Puglia. An underground exploration stretches over a length of 3 km and goes 60 meters deep into the ground. A little inland you will find the mysterious white UNESCO-listed ‘Trello’ houses in the Alberobello. Cisternino is another typical white village that you don’t want to miss. From here the road takes you along the rugged Adriatic coast, with plenty beaches and quaint villages. The final destination is Grotta della Poesia, which is a natural pool along the coast.

Few tourists make it to Puglia, so go check this out hidden gem before it’s discovered!
