Wannsee is a bulge in the Havel River and is a perfect destination to escape from the hustle-and-bustle of the city. This scenic road trip includes three highlights of the UNESCO-listed ‘Palaces and Parks of Berlin and Potsdam’.

The road takes you along the north shore of the lake offering you some great lookout points and endless green lanes. Stroll around in Potsdam and visit the Sanssouci Castle and its extensive parks. This palace is often referred to as the German equivalent of Versailles and boasts Rococo style temples and gardens. Drive to the ferry that takes you to Peacock Island (leave your car behind at the ferry) and stroll around to enjoy this peaceful island, home to peacocks and other tropical birds. The road continues along the south bank of the lake and takes you to the historic Wannsee Beach. This sand beach exists for over hundred years, and remains a popular destination for Berliners to go for a swim.
