The 65km- stretch of the UNESCO-listed Upper Middle Rhine Valley is sprawled with historic towns and castles that are testimonies of its long history of human involvement. The ‘Romantic Rhine Valley’ is intimately associated with history and legend and has had an influence on writers, artists and composers. This scenic road trips take you along both shores of this UNESCO-listed region and includes the must-see’s of this region.

Start your trip in Koblenz and follow river south towards the Rheinfels Castle in Sankt Goar. The views of the Lorelei rock across the river are phenomenal from this point. Take the ferry across the Rhine from Bingen am Rhein to the scenic town of Rüdesheim am Rhein, known for its half-timbered houses and (Riesling) winemaking. Continue your way back to Koblenz and enjoy the Rhine views from the other side of the valley. Although the overwhelming abundance of quaint towns, historic sites and castles on this route, it is the Marksburg castle that really stands out.
