Futher details on changes in version 1.50:
  • A menu option has been added to "demo" the currently planned route. It makes the application pretend that your are driving that route. All options (including clearing or changing the route!) are available while the application does this.
  • The "Navigate to..." menu now uses a much larger prompt-title, and shows details about the current destination in the bottom bar.
  • The "navigate to a favorite" option now uses a bigger font, and will now always suggest the second choice (rather than the "home" choice).
  • Non-standard-size POI symbols are now more prettily displayed in the properties POI tab;
  • The application will now warn about possible adverse effects when you make changes to certain advanced properties;
  • When you replace an existing favorite, the application now allows you to keep the old name of the favorite.
  • The "navigate to a recent destination" option now uses a bigger font, and will now always suggest the second choice (rather than the first, which is usually the current destination).
  • The 100-kilometer limit on finding nearby POI "by name" has been dropped; You should now be able to find any (uniquely-named) POI in the country.
  • The properties dialogs have been improved, hiding the keyboard unless it is required for value-entry.
  • In the map view, when you Tap & Hold on a self-made Point-of-Interest, you will now also be allowed to edit or delete the POI.
  • Background management of the GPS hardware is now almost completely disabled during route (re-)calculation; Not only does this speed up calculation, it also seems to prevent problems with certain types of GPS hardware.
  • The GPS software now offers record & playback options, suppresses "in use" messages for virtual hardware ports (such as Bluetooth port COM8: and USB port COM3:), and offers better hardware event handling (solving many issues with certain types of GPS hardware, including small issues such as the keyboard symbol remaining visible in the bottom right corner)
  • The GPS port event handling has been improved, solving many reported issues for certain types of GPS hardware, including the keyboard symbol that sometimes remained visible in the bottom right corner.
  • Several more windows (such as the about-box and the route summary) will now exit when tapped anywhere;
  • On the basis of much user-feedback, the option to "use night colors" is now offered on the first menu page, taking the place of the option to hide the map (which is now on the second page). Furthermore, the day/night-color icons have been replaced by more obvious symbols.
  • When the "show next highway" feature is enabled, motorway exits are now shown on dark green, while motorways are still shown on dark blue.
  • When the application re-calculates a route, the old route is cleared immediately, so that the screen does not show the old route for an instant longer than necessary;

Futher details on changes in version 1.41:
  • A bug was fixed that could cause version 1.40 to take a lot of time to plan routes;
  • Meanwhile, technical research has led to route planning that is much faster than any version ever was, while research based on a lot of user feedback has led to more optimal routes.
  • The "route" tab of your preferences now provides advanced control over the way the fastest route is calculated. It is meant to be set permanently to a setting suitable to you. It offers three choices:
    Fast calculation - This option produces routes similar to version 1.20, but often in far less time.
    Normal calculation - This is now the recommended default, and produces more optimal routes (based on a lot of user feedback). Compared to previous versions, it is usually a bit faster on short distances and a bit slower on long distances.
    Strict calculation - Roughly speaking, this option exhaustively checks "every little alley just in case it provides a short-cut that will reduce your trip by some extra seconds or meters". Such calculation may take a lot of time on long distances. But the setting can be a very suitable for people who need the best possible routes on lots of short distances, such as taxi drivers or city couriers. It is also suitable for people who plan their trips the day before they drive them.
    Note: you will find some useful tips about route planning speed on our Navigator support page.
  • Several small improvements were made to the "Show next highway" option;
  • Support for more BMP formats was added to provide customized Point-of-Interest symbols;
  • the compass now emphasizes "north" in red;
