Now we have tackled the problem of getting from A to B quickly and efficiently for drivers, our experts at TomTom are turning their attentions to enhancing the driving experience by giving them accurate and relevant information en route. This represents a fundamental change in route guidance, providing the ultimate solution for high-mileage drivers.
LIVE Services is a suite of real-time location feeds to give drivers the information they need when they need it, to improve their daily drive. And it is beamed directly to the GOx40 LIVE device over the air.
LIVE Services takes the stress out of commutes for users, saving them time, costs and money every day. For instance, users can make a potential saving of Є250 per year on fuel prices, they save time on drives and know exactly when they will arrive at their destination.
The services:
TomTom HD Traffic™ This will get users out of a jam if there is a better alternative route, using the most up-to-date traffic information. Information from a number of sources, including anonymous tracking of mobile phones and TomTom devices is merged, giving the most accurate traffic picture. This is sent directly to the device, with more regular updates covering more roads than any other system.(screen 1).
TomTom Local Search with Google Users can tap into the latest local Google listings from the TomTom GO LIVE to locate anything from Indian restaurants to flower shops wherever they are. They can just type in any search word, find matching locations and the device will take them there.(Screen 2).
TomTom Fuel Prices The TomTom GO receives the latest fuel prices. Users can get directions to the cheapest petrol station around and save money on their fuel bill. This can potentially save as much as 10 euro cents per liter, adding up to over Є250 per year for an average high mileage driver!(Screen 3).

TomTom Safety Alerts The TomTom GO receives real-time mobile safety camera locations to help users drive more safely and relaxed. It includes reports from other users so one user can help the whole community, with everyone sharing these locations in real-time. It also warns of other safety alerts, such as fixed safety cameras and accident blackspots, for the road ahead.
QuickGPSfix™ This speeds up the time it takes to fix a user’s GPS position.
TomTom Weather Your TomTom GO receives local and five-day forecasts for their current location or any destination so users can make plans based on the latest weather.
TomTom Buddies Users can find out where their friends are on the map, send them messages and share favourite locations.
These are real-time, delivered by GPRS built in to the device wherever the driver goes. They all work straight out of the box, with no need for installation or registration.
