TomTom to fully focus on South Africa through dedicated organisation

Amsterdam, 16 May 2008 - TomTom, the world’s leading portable navigation provider today announces it is opening its dedicated South African organisation to further grow sales and expand market share in South Africa.

“TomTom’s new office in South Africa is a direct result of the expanding global portable navigation devices (PND’s) industry and fast adaptation of navigation in South Africa,” says Diederik Nederlof, Vice-President Sales South Africa, Benelux & Nordics. “The opening of our South African office is in line with our global expansion strategy and enables us to fully focus on the needs and demands of our South African customers and retailers”.

The new South Africa organisation is to be headed by Joost Jetten. Joost and his team will be based in South Africa/Johannesburg and in his role as Regional Manager South Africa & Middle East he will be responsible for driving and developing all sales and marketing oriented activities in his region. He will implement a dedicated product strategy, including marketing investments on the shop floor to ensure retailers get all the local support they need to further grow the awareness of the PND category and TomTom devices in South Africa.

“We expect to be announcing a new partnership with a South African distributor very soon and we have all confidence in our local organisation and strong product offering to continue to successfully grow our business in South Africa”, Diederik Nederlof adds.
