Latest map release includes NZ locations of iconic movie landscapes

Auckland, 16 2013 – TomTom today announced its winter 2013 map release, adding 93 iconic New Zealand locations that have supported many Hollywood blockbusters as points of interests on their maps.

Each year fans from New Zealand and around the world flock to locations in both the North and South Islands keen to discover scenes like the mythical landscapes of Narnia, or the fantasy world of Mordor from Lord of the Rings.

“We’re constantly working to bring our customers innovation and information that matters to them. Many people love visiting the actual places where their favourite movies were shot and we’re delighted to include these New Zealand locations in our maps,” said Winnie Kwan, Senior Marketing Manager TomTom Asia Pacific.

The additional 93 scene locations from the latest map release are selected from the following 10 movies.

• Bridge to Terabithia

• Chronicles of Narnia

• Lord of the Rings

• The Hobbit

• The Piano

• The Rescue

• Tracker

• Under the Mountain

• Wolverine

• X-Men Origins Wolverine

Road networks change on average 15% per year, and to help keep customers up to date, TomTom releases four maps each year: Winter (May), Spring (Aug) and Summer (Nov) and Autumn (February).

TomTom drivers can download the latest maps at or through MyTomTom. TomTom also offers FREE Lifetime Maps update on selected models.
