Trans-Tasman travel easier with TomTom

~ TomTom keeps Kiwis in the fast lane on both sides of the Tasman with New Zealand and Australia maps and HD Traffic on the new GO LIVE 2000 series ~

Auckland, 2 November 2011 – TomTom, the world’s leading navigation solutions provider, today announced the new GO LIVE 2000 series has arrived in New Zealand, complete with maps of both New Zealand and Australia.

The TomTom GO LIVE 2000 GPS range also features TomTom’s HD Traffic, which offers real-time traffic information across both New Zealand and Australia. Chris Kearney, Vice President, TomTom Asia Pacific says this is a huge bonus for trans-Tasman travellers.

“With the close relations between New Zealand and Australia and ease of travel between the two countries, we wanted to make life easier for our customers that work and play on both sides of the Tasman.

“Having TomTom HD Traffic and maps for both countries allows our customers to benefit from real-time access to the best traffic information available and seamlessly navigate to destinations in Australia the same way they do in New Zealand,” said Kearney.

TomTom HD Traffic is the world’s most accurate and detailed traffic service delivering dynamic navigation and route guidance that continuously adapts to changing road conditions. It enables drivers to constantly keep in touch with what is happening on the road and stay informed about conditions ahead. Updated every two minutes, HD Traffic ensures drivers are always on the fastest route.

WThe new range consists of the TomTom GO LIVE 2050 and TomTom GO LIVE 2050 World; both with a premium 5” fluid touch screen which responds to every gesture for a faster and more interactive navigation experience. The new models also contain all of TomTom’s latest technologies including advanced lane guidance, hands-free calling and pre-installed safety cameras. Both units include New Zealand and Australia-wide maps; in addition the TomTom GO LIVE 2050 World comes complete with maps of over 50 countries across Europe, North America and Asia. For the first time, additional maps from Asia are included in this package, offering coverage for: Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Macau, Hong Kong and Brunei.

TomTom recently added 400,000 kilometres across the globe’s navigable map database to make it the first to reach 35.2 million kilometres of roads, covering 104 countries and a record 3.4 billion people worldwide.

The new TomTom GO LIVE 2000 range are priced at RRP $499 for the GO LIVE 2050 and RRP $649 for the GO LIVE 2050 World. Both models include a bonus one-year of connectivity to TomTom LIVE Services.

TomTom also celebrates the one year anniversary of the TomTom GO LIVE GPS, which delivers LIVE services such as HD Traffic, in New Zealand which was launched in October
