Give your map a daily boost with Map Share
TomTom understands that some changes on the road can happen overnight and delay your journey. Map Share helps you deal with the more frequent road changes, avoid detours and get to your destination even faster.
Map Share technology allows you to make changes to the map on your device or report map changes online. Many of the changes made on your device instantly improve your routing and they can also be shared with the Map Share community of 21 million.
The FREE Daily Map Changes that you receive from the Map Share community include these more dynamic and frequent changes on the road:
You benefit from the local knowledge of the unique TomTom Map Share community who spot and report these changes, helping to get you to your destination without unwanted surprises.
New changes become available every day and you simply need to connect your device to your computer as often as you like to give your map a boost.
There are a number of different map changes that can be reported either directly on your device or via our online Map Share reporter tool. These are all fed back to our map production teams and are dealt with as part of on-going improvement projects. There are however a selection of changes that will be applied directly to the map on your device and these are also the changes that can be shared with the Map Share community:

Give your map a daily boost with Map Share
To take full advantage of Map Share, and to start making, sharing and receiving your FREE Daily Map Changes from the TomTom Map Share community, this is all you need to do:
Agree to join the Map Share community on your device when prompted. This is usually part of the initial device set-up or can be found in the Map correction settings on your device.
Ensure you have a recent map.
Map Share currently supports all maps released within the last 12 months.
As an improvement to the service, the latest maps (version 8.85 and newer) will be supported for the life of your device. Find out more.
Ensure you have MyDrive or TomTom HOME software for your computer (available as a free download). Find out which you need for your device.
Ensure you have the latest free TomTom device software on your device (this will be offered in MyDrive or TomTom HOME if available).
Remember that new changes become available every day and you simply need to connect your device to your computer as often as you like to give your map a boost.
When you join the Map Share community, you are asked to select a ‘level of trust’ for the map changes you receive. For example, you might decide that you only want to receive changes that have been verified by TomTom. Alternatively, you might be happy to accept changes that have been submitted by some or many Map Share community members.
This gives you control of the map corrections you receive on your device.
Map Share functionality is available on all TomTom devices except TomTom GO 2400/2500 series, VIA series or Sony XNV devices. For these devices, changes can be made to your own map on the device but cannot yet be shared with the community.
To receive changes from the Map Share community, your map must be less than 12 months old.
NOTE: Map Share is not currently supported by My TomTom
To ensure the best navigation experience, we do everything in our power to create the best maps. Your reports help us to detect changes in your area and keep future versions of our maps as accurate as possible.
Our online Map Share Reporter gives you a simple way to report changes to TomTom maps. It lets you report changes for a wide range of map features from your computer*. With the Reporter, you can do more than when reporting errors on your device:

Your reports are really important to us, and we take time to review each one carefully. Now, with Map Share Reporter, you can check on our progress. See at a glance when we’re working on your report. And find out the moment your report has been accepted.
Once we’ve verified the suggestions you make in your report we will update our map database. This is when we’ll change your report status to ‘report accepted’. It may take some time after this for this change to appear on our online maps and in a map update for your device.
The Map Share reports you supply help to keep our maps as fresh and accurate as possible. And the online Map Share Reporter makes it even easier for you to help us to keep them that way.
Starting in June 2012, TomTom has decided to extend Map Share so that daily map changes from the TomTom Map Share community are available for the life of all new devices. To ensure that users who have recently bought a new device or a new map are not negatively affected, all maps released within the last 12 months will also benefit from this change. This means that you need to have a map v8.65 or later to benefit. Older maps were only supported for a period of 12 months.
The road network develops at a very fast pace. After a year, a large number of structural changes – such as new roads – will have fundamentally altered the map itself. Don’t forget that to ensure your map stays at its best, you can join our Map Update Service. This gives you every single release of your map over a fixed period, for a one-time, annual price which will be discounted according to how up to date your current map is.
